Binding Techniques

We bind in different ways – Saddle Stitch, Perfect bound (PUR) and wiro bound.

Saddle Stitch

Saddle stitch is our most popular type of binding. It is the least expensive with the fastest turn around time. It is simply a wire staple inserted into the spine of your document holding the cover and the inside pages together. This binding method is used for lots of different book types such as programmes, product guides and calendars. Saddle stitched documents must be created in four pages multiples.

Wiro Bound

Wiro bound documents open completely flat on a table and therefore are ideal for presentation style documents, manuals and recipe books. Holes are punched in the cover and the inside pages where a ‘C’ shaped wire spine is inserted and squeezed closed.

PUR Binding

PUR Binding is a form of Perfect binding and is generally used for thicker reports, annuals and manuals. The pages and cover of your document are bound together at the spine using an adhesive – Polyurethane Reactive (PUR) which is the most durable book binding glue available. This binding technique is ideal for producing short print runs cost effectively. Only print what you need and we can produce more if and when required.

The minimum and maximum number of pages suitable for the different binding methods depends on the paper weight/thickness.

Choose to laminate the covers of your brochure to enhance colours and imagery as well as adding durability. Lamination can be done in either a gloss or matt effect. A matt effect will give a subtle finish to your brochure with a soft feel to the touch while a gloss effect will give your a high shine photographic finish.

Alternatively we can case bind your brochure or book. This is ideal for commemorative books.
