ExploreThe best material for outdoor signage depends on how long the sign has to last and how exposed it is: dibond for permanent signs, correx for short-term site and event signs, PVC or mesh for banners.
| Material | What it is | Best for | Good to know |
|---|---|---|---|
| PVC banner | Flexible, waterproof banner material | Railings, walls, shop fronts, events | Hemmed with reinforced eyelets for ties or bungees |
| Mesh banner | Perforated banner material | Fences, scaffolding, building wraps, exposed sites | Lets the wind through, so it puts less strain on fixings |
| Correx | Fluted polypropylene board, light and water resistant | Site signs, directional event signs, temporary notices | Ideal for short to medium term use |
| Foamex | Rigid foam PVC board with a smooth print surface | Covered entrances, events, A-board inserts | Best indoors or in sheltered spots outside |
| Dibond | Aluminium composite: two aluminium skins and a solid core | Shop front signs, building signs, long-life outdoor signs | The most durable rigid board we print |
| Vinyl | Self-adhesive printed film | Windows, vehicles, hoardings | Ask us about the right grade for your surface |
Not sure? Tell us where the sign is going, which way it faces and how long it needs to last, and we recommend the material. For a side-by-side guide to rigid boards, see foamex and correx signs.
Choose PVC for a sheltered wall or railing where colour and solidity matter most, and mesh for anything exposed to wind such as fences, scaffolding and open sites.
PVC banners are waterproof and hemmed with reinforced eyelets, so they tie neatly to railings, gates and walls. They give a solid, bright print and suit shop openings, sales, events and school notices.
Mesh banners are perforated, so wind passes through rather than pulling the banner and its fixings. They are the right choice for construction hoarding, scaffolding wraps and large banners on open ground.
Both are printed on site in Dún Laoghaire. Tell us the size and where it is going, and we will advise on the fixing and finish. For indoor and event use, see pull up banners.

Yes: we print pavement signs (A-boards), correx site boards, foamex signs and dibond panels for shop fronts and buildings.
Pavement signs. An A-board outside the door is the cheapest way to tell passers-by you are open. We print the double-sided inserts so you can change offers and menus through the year.
Correx. Fluted, light and water resistant, correx is the board for site signs, directional signs at events and temporary notices. It takes cable ties or screws and is easy to move.
Foamex signs. Smooth and rigid, foamex gives a sharp print for covered entrances, events and indoor signs. Outside, it suits sheltered spots and shorter campaigns.
See foamex and correx signs for the full guide, and outdoor displays for board signs and hop-up units.

Yes: we design, print and fit vehicle wraps and graphics, from a logo and phone number on the doors to a full van wrap.
A branded van is a sign that goes wherever your business goes. We work from your vehicle make and model, lay out the design around doors, handles and windows, and you approve a proof before anything prints.
The graphics are printed on vehicle vinyl in Dún Laoghaire and we can fit them for you. The fitting date is confirmed with your quote. See vehicle wraps for more.

Files are checked, then everything is printed and finished on our production floor in Dún Laoghaire.
Fitted by our team on the agreed date, next-day delivery nationwide once printed, or collection.
Working to a site opening, an event or a launch? Put the date in the form and we plan back from it. We check every file before it prints, so text reads at the distance people will see it from, whether that is a pavement sign at arm's length or a banner across a road.
Keep the message short, make the text big and use strong contrast: an outdoor sign is usually read in a few seconds, from a distance, often from a moving car.
Pick the one message that matters: your name, the offer, the direction or the warning. Put the phone number or web address second, and leave everything else for your flyers and website.
Think about where people will be standing or driving when they see the sign. Tell us the viewing distance and we size the lettering and logo so it reads from there, and show it on your proof.
Dark text on a light background, or light on dark, reads best in rain, low sun and at dusk. Thin type, busy photos and pale colours disappear outdoors, so we flag them when we check your file.
Railings, posts, walls, fences and vehicles all need different fixings. Tell us what the sign is going on and we finish it with eyelets, holes or the right adhesive, or fit it for you.
Ask us about fittingNo designer? Our graphic design studio can lay out your banner, board or van from your logo and wording, and match it to the rest of your print. If you want the whole set in one go, ask for a quote for the full set and we will price every sign together.
Our outdoor work includes projects for EirGrid and ICGP, alongside shops, schools, sites and events across Ireland.
For ICGP we produced fascia signage, foamex signage and posters, so the building, the event and the noticeboards all matched. That is the advantage of one printer for every sign: one set of files, one proof and one delivery.
Planning a bigger project with indoor signs too? See our signage Dublin page for wayfinding, plaques and safety signs, or our indoor signage range.

Dibond (aluminium composite) is the most durable rigid board we print and suits permanent shop front and building signs. Correx and PVC banners suit shorter-term outdoor use.
PVC banners are solid and waterproof with reinforced eyelets; mesh banners are perforated so wind passes through. Use mesh on fences, scaffolding and exposed sites.
Yes. Correx is light, water resistant and easy to fix with cable ties or screws, which makes it ideal for site signs, event directions and temporary notices.
