We print business cards in the standard 85mm x 55mm format as well as square, mini and custom-cut shapes where the design calls for it. Stocks run from everyday uncoated and silk boards through to heavier premium card, and we can supply printed samples on the stocks you are considering before you commit to a full run. Uncoated stock takes a pen well and suits anyone who writes on the back of a card. Silk gives a cleaner reproduction of photography and strong brand colours. Heavier premium boards carry weight in the hand, which is often the whole point of a senior or client-facing card. Finishes include matt and gloss lamination, soft touch, spot UV, foiling and rounded corners. If you are matching an existing card, send us one and we will match the stock and finish rather than guess at it.
Finding the Perfect Finish
The finish is what people notice when they pick a card up. Matt lamination is understated and resists fingerprints. Gloss lifts colour and photography. Soft touch has a velvety surface that reads as considered, and is popular for premium and professional services cards. Spot UV puts a raised gloss over selected elements such as a logo, and works best on a matt laminated card where the contrast shows. Foiling in gold, silver, copper or a coloured foil adds a metallic element that printing alone cannot reproduce. Rounded corners and edge painting change the shape and profile of the card itself. Not every card needs a special finish, and we will say so if a finish is not adding anything for your budget. If you are unsure, ask us for samples and decide with the cards in your hand.
Artwork and Design
Send us print ready artwork as a PDF with 3mm bleed and text kept clear of the trim, and we will preflight it before anything goes on press. If you have brand guidelines, send those too and we will work to them. If you do not have artwork, our studio can set the card from your logo and brand colours, or design it from scratch. For multi-name sets we work from a single approved template and a name list, which keeps every card in the team consistent and makes future additions quick. We will always come back to you with a proof to approve before printing. Common issues we catch at this stage are low resolution logos taken from a website, RGB colour that will shift when converted for print, and text sitting too close to the trim edge.

Choosing well
Which business card stock and finish should I choose?
Choose uncoated for a natural feel, silk for a smooth everyday card or a premium heavier stock, then add foil, spot UV or soft-touch if you want the card to stand out.
Start with how the card will be used. If people write on it, an uncoated board takes a pen and reads as approachable. If your brand relies on photography or strong flat colour, silk reproduces it more cleanly. If the card has to carry weight in a first meeting, move to a premium board and add one finish, not three.
Then pick the finish for the job it does. Matt lamination resists fingerprints and suits most corporate cards. Soft touch is the finish people comment on. Spot UV lifts a logo off a matt card. Foil adds metallic detail that print alone cannot produce. We will tell you when a finish is not earning its place on your budget.
