In-House Design, Start to Finish
Every job that comes through Sooner Than Later passes through our in-house design team before it goes to print. That might mean tidying up a logo that's not quite print-ready, or building artwork from scratch when a client has an idea but no finished design yet. Julia and Lea handle it all in-house, nothing gets sent out.
Having designers on-site means artwork is properly checked before it's printed, not just uploaded and hoped for. Colour profiles, bleed, resolution, file setup, it's all reviewed here, so what you see on screen is what you get on the finished product. It also means changes and proofs turn around quickly, since everything stays in-house rather than being sent to a third party.

Design That's Built To Print

Most people think of Sooner Than Later as the place a job gets printed. Fair enough, that’s the part clients usually see arrive at reception. But long before anything goes near a press, it starts on a screen, worked out by people who already know how it needs to print, fold, and hold up once it’s out in the world.
That’s the real difference an in-house design service makes. Nothing gets lost in translation between the person designing a piece and the person producing it, because they’re on the same team, working from the same brief, thinking about the same finished object.

One team, four completely different jobs

Sometimes the best way to show what a design service does is to point at a few things that have almost nothing in common.
We designed our own merch range, the mugs, totes and notebooks we hand out and use ourselves, pulling everything into one confident, colourful identity that holds together across print, textiles and ceramics. It’s a good reminder that the work we put in front of clients gets tested on us first.
A wedding photographer came to us needing somewhere beautiful to hand over a couple’s photographs. Not an envelope, a keepsake. We designed a soft, textured pocket leaflet: the kind of thing that’s clearly built to be kept rather than binned.
For St John of God, the brief was a patient handbook that had to do a quieter job: put someone at ease before they’d read a single word. Gentle illustration, a calm palette, and a layout designed to be picked up on a hard day.
And for HSE Spark, we designed a family engagement booklet, Read, Speak, Sing to Your Baby, aimed at parents during one of the harder periods a family can go through. It needed to be warm, simple, and completely non-clinical, so we leaned into soft illustration, colour, and a tone that spoke to parents rather than at them.
Four completely different audiences, four completely different jobs. Same team, same process, same instinct to work out what a piece actually needs to do before a single mock-up gets made.

Start Designing Today

The process stays simple on purpose. A short brief to understand what you’re trying to say and who it’s for. Concepts back to you quickly enough that you’re not waiting weeks to see direction. Sign-off, then a straight handover into production, no separate agency, no re-briefing a printer on what the designer meant.
It’s the same reason clients come back for print: consistency, plain communication, and a team that treats your deadline like their own.
Ready when you are
Whether it’s a full rebrand, a single booklet, or a stand you need designed by Friday, the same in-house team picks it up from brief to finished piece.
