Green eco friendly print and mailing solutions

Green eco friendly print and mailing solutions by Sooner than Later

Sooner than Later is a green eco friendly environmentally responsible print and mailing solutions company based in Dun Laoghaire, Co. Dublin. We value the environment we live and operate in and actively focus on reducing our carbon footprint by conserving our natural resources and minimising our waste and the effect it has on our environment.

Railway through forest

We are proud as environmental advocates to have a formal Environmental Policy in place which is constantly under review to reach ultimate sustainable efficiency. We are committed to ensuring that we reduce, reuse, and recycle wherever and whenever possible to minimise the impact on our environment, use less energy and produce less waste. Our ethical approach in our business policies and at all stages of our print and mailing processes are designed to protect and minimise the potential negative effect on our precious environment.

The high green eco friendly standards we adhere to are dependent on our choice of suppliers, materials and processes as follows:

By its very nature digital print allows customers to order on-demand thus eliminating the need to invest in huge levels of printed stock which may soon become obsolete. Short digital print runs are produced economically – allowing customers to update their marketing communications regularly. As a digital 24-hour print company, paper is our most important raw material. Sooner than Later sources the wide range of paper it offers customers from reputable suppliers and endeavours to only use PEFC (Promoting Sustainable Forest Management) and FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) paper. These accreditations aim to achieve the highest sustainable standards of forest management which are environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial, and economically viable. It also means that our printing becomes a renewable resource as the paper is made of wood fibre which is a renewable raw material and is both recyclable and biodegradable.

Sooner than Later also measures and offsets the carbon emissions of our printed paper through the work of the World Land Trust. Carbon Balanced Paper is achieved through the preservation of ecologically important standing forests, under real and imminent threat of clearance, locking in carbon that would otherwise be released and securing continued absorption of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. This is acknowledged as one of the fastest and most cost effective ways of combating the rise of atmospheric CO2 and global warming effects.

Sooner than Later uses dry inks because they are gentle on the environment and produce high quality bright images.

All of the polywrap Sooner than Later uses for its customer mailings is recyclable. In addition we are now offering customers the option of using a more green environmentally friendly polywrapping service. This alternative eco-friendly polywrap offered by Sooner than Later is designed to break down naturally after use so there is no need for it to be recycled. It is a starch based polywrap that has been certified as officially containing NO Genetically Modified Organisms and has been produced FREE from GMO materials. It is 100% biodegradable and fully compostable within 10 days in the right environment yet it is strong and effective during use thereby providing our clients with a more green environmentally friendly solution to your packaging and mailing needs. Click here for further details on our green environmentally frriendly polywrapping service.

A key component of green eco friendly printing and mailing solutions is what is used  to power our equipment and facilities to ensure  we minimise the total resources required to print or mail a product for our customers. Our current electricity supplier is Panda Power, a 100% Irish sustainable green energy supplier. They convert landfill-sourced methane into electricity at nine landfill sites throughout the country which provides a greener and more sustainable source of electricity than traditional sources.

We do not use water in our printing or production processes. Our water consumption is therefore minimal and more in line with domestic rather than commercial water consumption.

Recycling in Sooner than Later

Sooner than Laters’ employees are all trained to segregate and recycle paper, cardboard and plastic products as well as ink and toner cartridges. Employees are also encouraged to keep paper usage to a minimum with our on-screen, computer-based production system designed to support this objective.

The bulk of our recycling is done by NER Recyling – an ethical recycling company while our ink cartridges are recycled by Xerox through the Xerox Green World Alliance programme.

All pallets used on our premises are reused extensively unless damaged in which case they are collected by our recycling company.

Packing and Delivery

Our print is packed in cardboard boxes which may be placed on wooden pallets which are polywrapped in recyclable polywrap or tubes which are also recyclable before despatch to our customers.

Sooner than Later operate their own fleet of Mercedes Benz Sprinter vans for delivering goods to customers. These vans meet the strict Euro 6 emission standards. The exhaust gas passes through a catalytic converter and the nitrogen oxides are converted into nitrogen and water with the aid of the water based AdBlue additive. This helps to protect the environment and contributes to the vehicle’s economic efficiency.

Sooner than Later would be delighted to discuss any of our green sustainable initiatives with you and provide quotes for any green eco friendly print and mailing solutions requirements you have. You can contact Sooner than Later by email or by phone on 01 2844 777.

We are working hard with our suppliers, customers and partners to ensure we minimise the effect we all have on our precious planet but if you have any suggestions of how we can work together to improve our green eco friendly sustainable performance even further please don’t hesitate to let us know.
